Teaching Philosophy
I believe in creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel supported and empowered to explore their musical potential. My teaching approach is focused on nurturing a passion for music while prioritizing technical skills and musicality. I believe that a single teaching strategy cannot possibly be effective for all students, therefore I try to be sensitive to each student’s strengths and weaknesses and allow them to find their individual voices. I aim to establish a supportive and motivational atmosphere for my students, encouraging them to achieve their maximum potential. By instilling a love for music, fostering technical skills, and encouraging creativity, I aim to guide aspiring cellists towards becoming confident, skilled musicians who find joy and fulfillment in their musical journey.
As a Doctoral student at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside accomplished professionals from all over the world who have shared their knowledge and expertise with me, both as a performer and a teacher. This has strengthened my commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in my own educational settings, as well as encouraged me to actively perform and share the music of composers from underrepresented communities with my students. Additionally, I am determined to constantly develop my skills and musical knowledge further to continue to learn and grow as a musician.
